The call for proposals for the 2024 Eportfolio Forum on 10-11 September 2024 at University of Southern Queensland’s Toowoomba campus and online will open shortly.

Submit your proposal by 27 May

Guidelines for presenting / facilitating in a dual delivery / blended environment

Submissions were being accepted for:

  • 20×20 presentation – 6-7 mins presentation consisting of 20 timed slides which run for 20 secs each + 7-8 mins Q&A (11 September)
  • Digitally Interactive Poster – 6-7 mins electronic poster presentation which is showcased via a computer during a break-out session, and allows participants to interact with the information via a computer or mobile device for 7-8 mins (11 September) – Suggested applications to create your digitally interactive poster includes: H5P, Advanced PowerPoint or Google Slides, Infographic, ThinglinkGlogsterCanvaPiktochart – click here to review Larissa D’Angelo’s From Posters to e-Posters: The Evolution of a Genre
  • Intensive workshop – 60 mins hands-on session where participants are actively involved (10 September) – You must be an experienced online facilitator or have a co-facilitator with online facilitation experience.  You will also be asked to provide indicative activities you will undertake which are suitable for online attendees.
  • In-depth workshop – 90 mins hands-on session where participants are actively involved (11 September) – You must be an experienced online facilitator or have a co-facilitator with online facilitation experience.  You will also be asked to provide indicative activities you will undertake which are suitable for online attendees.
  • Facilitate a professional conversation – lead a 50 min group discussion around a topic (11 September) – no presentation slides permitted – must be suitable for online attendees
  • Shortened (peer reviewed paper) presentation – 15 min presentation + 5 min Q&A based on a 900-1200 word (+ abstract) published peer reviewed paper written for the Eportfolio Forum (and which will be published in the Eportfolio Forum eBook of Shortened Peer Reviewed Papers) (10 September) – click here to download the Shortened (peer reviewed) presentation paper – Style Guide

  • ePortfolios Australia will provide:
    • online workshop / facilitation tips/tricks
    • planning templates 
    • training leading up to the Forum
    • an online moderator to assist with each session

Call for proposal timeline:

  • 2 April 2024 – Open call for proposals
  • 27 May 2024 – Close call for proposals
  • Week beginning 11 June 2024 – Notify outcome of call for proposal submissions (including notification of invitation to submit a peer reviewed paper)
  • 15 July 2024 – Submission of peer reviewed papers using file naming convention: surname_paper_title
  • 8 August 2024 – Notify of acceptance of peer reviewed pending any required revisions
  • 27 August 2024 – Submission of updated peer reviewed papers
  • 3 September 2024 – Submission of presentation slides and handouts using file naming convention: surname_session_title
  • 10-11 September 2024 – 2024 Eportfolio Forum

Proposal themes and sub-theme:

Proposals should fit into one or more of the following conference sub-themes. Those proposals not fitting into these themes should provide an explanation of how the proposal supports the overall event theme of “Humanistic, Holistic, Realistic”.

You will be asked to explain how your proposal meets the conference theme and selected sub-theme(s), and the learning outcomes for participants of your proposal as part of the submission process.

CONFERENCE SUB-THEMES:

1. Humanistic approaches to eportfolios:

  • Portfolios and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) – making learning accessible for all
  • Creating impactful eportfolios through authentic learning and assessment
  • Supporting inclusive, equitable and accessible education – Empowering all voices
  • Student focused, personalised learning and teaching

2. Holistic learning journeys through eportfolios:

  • Whole of program curricula design
  • Programmatic assessment
  • Academic integrity
  • Portfolios for students and staff
  • A co-designed approach (students as partners in portfolio design)

3. Realistic implementation of eportfolios:

  • Resilient technology usage leading to purposeful transformation
  • Positive and effective change management, transformation and integration
  • Technology for a whole of program roll-out
  • Technology to enhance eportfolio use and individual practice

4. Reimagining the purpose of portfolios in the age of Gen AI:

  • Face the future in changes in educational technology and impact of Gen AI
  • The impact of Gen AI on learner identity
  • Embracing the future of continuous learning in the age of Gen AI
  • Influence of Gen AI vs human-based outputs in eportfolio practice

5. Using eportfolios in the ‘real’ world:

  • Employability / Work integrate learning (WIL)
  • Making portfolios ‘real’ for learner branding and employability
  • Employers and eportfolios
  • Professional eportfolios
  • For recognition of prior learning, and transferability of learning/experience
  • Continuous professional development
